Lori Holmes is no stranger to cooking for crowds, having grown up with five siblings, then serving home-cooked feasts for her own family of ten. Lori’s most valuable experience comes from her kitchen, serving up meat and taters, three times a day for over 40 years! Solidifying her cuisine path, Lori completed a catering course at Johnson County Community College and has been the owner of Motomama’s Munchies since 2011. From groups as large as 300, to intimate settings for two, Lori serves up the perfect platter every time! Your wish is her command…for gorgeous and delicious buffet setups, succulent plated meals, delectable appetizers or mouthwatering desserts, Lori walks each of her partners through a detailed consultation to find the best fit for each occasion. Living in Kansas City, the BBQ Capitol of America, Lori has received multiple awards for her recipes, including two perfect scores in the dessert category for barbecue contests. She has catered food for former professional athletes, including Frank White of the KC Royals and Deron Cherry of the KC Chiefs, as well as Willie Wilson.
Lori and her husband, Carl, are celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary this year, are avid motorcyclists and enjoy traveling the nation with the wind in their faces and on two wheels. Taking her catering business on the road, Lori has prepared meals as far as 800 miles from home, catering for weddings, retreats, corporate events and celebrations of all kinds. Lori provided an outstanding spread of custom-ordered munchies for my party! She stepped up to my challenge of altering her usual party spread to accommodate my family's dietary restrictions of gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free, artificial-color-free, artificial-flavor-free, artificial-sweetener-free, BHT, BHA, TBHQ preservative-free foods. All the foods were colorful, healthy and very TASTY!! My friends who at-first were leary to try the gluten-free chocolate cake, went running back to the table for second-helpings of it because it tasted SO GOOD! And the dairy-free dip for the fresh fruit was amazingly tasty! It got lots of positive comments! Thank you, Lori, for doing an awesome job. I hired Lori to caterer our wedding for the chocolate covered strawberries and the mints. Not only do I live in Wichita, a couple of hundred miles away from Lori, but she did them for me on a last minute whim.She made sure the mints matched our colors for the reception and had a 'Bride & Groom' set of strawberries made special for us.
